ECO ACCESS and Thatu In 2008 Thatu gave Eco-Access a small grant to help them carry out the groundwork for a longer term intervention in another school. This grant included the wonderful £26 raised by the children at a Suffolk school for disabled children.
THABO VUYO SCHOOL In 2009 we in Thatu agreed to fund intensive work in one of Eco-Access’s Green Schools. They decided that the Thabo Vuyo School in Sebokeng, Gauteng, was the most suitable candidate for our funding, and we agreed that it seemed to have real potential. Thabo Vuyo is a school for more than 300 pupils with learning difficulties. It has achieved considerable success with athletics, and also specialises in arts and crafts. With 5 acres of school grounds, they have already designed a vegetable and herb garden. Lot's to do: there's no lack of land for development Green times: the school vegetable garden started in 2008 Eco-access plans also to be involved in a community garden which parents will develop. About 50 parents have been approached about taking part in this Women’s Entrepreneurship project to manage, grow and harvest vegetables. |
