Thatu receives gifts of love 29th
June 2006 FEATURE Thatu is always impressed
by the many creative ways our supporters find to raise funds. Here
we tell three stories of couples that included Thatu in their plans,
on one of the most special days of their lives.
Clive and Patricia Kamichaitis on their
wedding day
Clive and Patricia Kamichaitis are
Canadians who met in Montreal, and married there on 22nd October
2005.
On their Order of Service card Clive and Patricia explained to their
guests that in lieu of the usual bonbonnieres they would be making
a donation of £200 on their behalf to Thatu's projects to create
food gardens in poorly resourced areas of South Africa.
Thatu wishes them every happiness in their life together, with their
new son, Jack. We hope that their guests regularly visit the website
to see the ongoing outcomes their donation is effecting.
Anne Margaret Daniel, an American friend, recently made a donation
to Thatu in honour of her friends John Smelcer and Mpho Tlali, who
married in Lesotho in March.
The bride and groom had asked that a donation be made to charity
as a wedding gift, and since the bride is from Lesotho, Thatu seemed
the perfect charity to choose. Thatu extends its thanks to Anne
Margaret and our warmest congratulations to Mpho and John.
Kirsty Hartley recently contacted Thatu with a large order from
our online shop for our Butterfly Flower seed sticks to use as table
favours for the guests at the wedding of her daughter Katy and her
fiancé Jan.
The couple, who live in the Netherlands, visited a village project
in Zambia and were moved by the experience, so were pleased to be
able to support Thatu's work in Africa through their purchase. They
marry on 1st July 2006. Siyanihalalisela (we congratulate
you) and nibe nezibusiso ezinigi (have many blessings).
